Looking into Classic’s future, MLB sees growth

The tournament drew a record 781,429 fans since it began in Asia on March 2, played to huge international television audiences, and Brosnan said it will certainly be back for its fourth running in 2017.

“The Commissioner is 1,000-percent committed,” Brosnan said.

Mainstream baseball countries Mexico, Canada, Venezuela and Korea were all knocked out in the first round, but only Mexico will have to qualify for the tournament in 2017.

My first thought: How can a pitcher be not safe for work?
My second thought: Oh god, the internet has damaged my brain... but at least I have enough self-control to not go on a tirade about minor leagues not being major leagues.

Anyone know why all the Australian teams play in green? Is there some historical context for that?

Sixteen-year-old hitter Dale from Melbourne has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals, while 18-year-old NSW pitcher Guyer has signed on with the Minnesota Twins.

Dale has been training at the Major League Baseball Academy (MLBAAP) on the Gold Coast for the past six weeks, where his impressive in-field tact cemented him as a serious third base prospect for the Royals.

This sounds like a line from one of those early 1900s articles that are posted each day.

Also, I didn't know MLB had an official Australian academy.

#5 -- Apparently, green and gold are the dominant colors of Australia's floral emblem, the Golden Wattle.

Green and gold are the Australian sports teams colours, although usually more gold than green.

Saw a couple teams out playing this last weekend. It's winter here. Baseball in winter. Cool.
