Rest or Tommy John surgery?
The possibility of surgery was broached earlier in the afternoon when manager Terry Collins said the ways for Lagares’ elbow to improve would be to rest or have Tommy John surgery. Collins added Lagares can play through this injury.
“A lot of guys have,” Collins said. “We just have to be careful he doesn’t get crazy and make an awkward throw or try to overthrow too much.”
Outfielder Juan Lagares agreed to a four-year, $23 million extension with the New York Mets that includes a club option to buy out one season of free agency, major league sources told Yahoo Sports.
