LATimes: NBC in touch with Al Michaels after his DUI arrest

NBC said Sunday it is aware of sportscaster Al Michaels’ arrest for allegedly driving under the influence in Santa Monica but declined to say whether it would affect his work with the network.

Greg Hughes, a spokesman for NBC Sports, told Associated Press that the network had been “in contact with Michaels.” Hughes declined to elaborate.

A longtime announcer on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” Michaels was arrested at about 10 p.m. Friday, booked into jail and released on his own recognizance ...

BBRef says he's 3rd year arb eligible.

Assume he's in the trade to balance the salaries a little bit. The Dodgers won't need him, so the Sox take him and subtract Loney's salary from the cash they'd send LA.

Holy crap. This team has already done its level best to kill my interest in the Sox, and if this deal goes down as reported it'll be the final nail in the coffin. I'm sure they'll drag me back in eventually - they always do - but it's going to take longer than usual this time. I can see the argument for getting out from under Beckett and Crawford's salaries, but at this point I've lost all confidence that the current management team knows what it's doing and won't piss the savings away on equally bad deals for worse players.

I ran the numbers for a Sox therapy post. Based on rough WAR projections, this is the amount per season the Red Sox will overpay Crawford, Gonzalez, and Beckett over the next six years:

2013: $19M
2014: $25M
2015: $20M
2016: $25M
2017: $29M
2018: $10M
Total: $128M

If the Dodgers are paying most of the freight, that's a ######' A trade for the Red Sox. You make that deal and figure out how to spend the money later.

Yup. This all fits with a Bobby V redemption opportunity in 2013, maybe even into 2014 with the next as a bridge year. Yikes on all counts.

They never gave up anything for Wells. Sox gave up prospects (Rizzo) for A-Gone and a pick for Crawford.

Alex Speier reports it's done pending medical review. He's confirming a series of reports from Gordon Edes.

Crawford, Gonzalez, Beckett, Punto, and (maybe) cash for Rubby De La Rosa, another "prospect", plus youngish flotsam James Loney, Jerry Sands, Ivan de Jesus.

This looks like a pretty amazing deal.

Man, just think what Theo could have gotten if he had signed Albert Pujols this offseason. Albert Pujols, Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Marmol, and Carlos Zambrano to the Dodgers for De La Rosa and another prosepct is a helluva lot better than anything he's done so far.

This is friggin' insane.

The Dodgers just took on like $250 million in contracts - one of which is good. Boston should not have dumped A-Gon, but if it gets you out from under Crawford and 2 years of Beckett then....

Also, count me in the camp that thinks this cements Bobby-V as the manager and someone who they are willing to go with for the foreseeable future. I don't know why they would come to that conclusion - he makes terrible moves - but damn.
