Concur. After a fluke 1st year, the results have been horrid.
After years of being a joke, the Mariners have made one of the most impressive turnarounds in recent history.
And it’s not just Jack Zduriencik; I wouldn’t even call Jack the smartest guy in the room. Tony Blengino is scary to talk to. I’m glad he’s working on baseball talent evaluation, because otherwise I could see him being a mad scientist from a Bond movie.
#9 Most particularly they spend all that time gloating and then trying to kill Bond in some elaborate and impractical way.
My first instinct was to criticize the idea that Zduriencik should get any more chances but looking at the Mariners BBRef page I guess I can see some positives to lay at his feet. Smoak is finally making that trade look fairly good instead of a disaster, he has young guys in Kyle Seager, Nick Franklin, and Brad Miller playing well, Kendrys Morales is looking like a good pickup, Iwamkuma continues to be a smart signing, and even though Ibanez is playing Ibanez-like defense and has no part in a successful future for the team he has at least been a worthy hitter and given the team a boost. I still remain quite skeptical of Zduriencik's ability to put a playoff team on the field but I'll admit that he looks better than he did at the end of last season.
Or, as a friend of mine once quipped "If people would just listen to Jack Bauer, the show would be called 12".
Don't the Bond mad scientists always leave one gaping hole in their plan that leads them to catastrophe?

Or how most rom-coms would be over after 15 minutes if the man were not always interrupted before he admitted something to the woman that ends up causing a huge misunderstanding. Or had a cell phone.
