And we'll miss 10-15 pitches because of it.

This sounds a lot easier than having some ex-pitcher analyst just hold a ball in front of the camera.

This seems like as good of a place as any to say how much I can't stand MLB 360 with all its whooshing noises and blurry transitions between camera angles. It seems like a gimmick just for the sake of the gimmick and does nothing to break down a play in any greater detail.

I'm interested in this, if for no other reason than that I have no idea at all how they are going to get a 3D holographic image to show 3D on my 2D TV. If someone has actually figured out how to do that, the movie industry is going to get yet another overhaul. I have my doubts, but I do want to see them try. - Brock Hanke

This reminds me of ABC having a 360 cam during the political conventions. They went to it once and my wife said "why did they give us a cameraphone quality shot of the convention just to show us a 360 view?" Completely pointless.

There are a few ways they could make this hologram technology awesome. Have a "virtual" Mel Allen chime in with "how about that" on great plays. A virtual Jack Buck giving that eloquent speech he gave after 9/11 during the 7th inning stretch instead of the infernal GBA. Or have Princess Leia give an impassioned plea to Obi Won Kanobi to save the people of Alderraan.

Well, the company that made hologram Tupac has gone bankrupt, so that may be an obstacle.

As long as we don't have to see Frank Caliendo in 3D. Or two. Or one.

(Yes, every time I see a TBS thread, I'm going to mention Frank Caliendo. I lived through the atrocity that was "Frank TV", and I shall bear witness!)

I assumed from the title that this was about some sort of new way of printing a baseball card. Sounds like it would have been cooler if it was.
