Just two guys, talking baseball, presumably at a Tim Horton’s.

RG: When you talk to agents or other GMs now do you detect a different vibe than when you were starting out? Do they know where you’re coming from before you even come from there?
AA: I never thought about it that way. Over time you get to know them better and they get to know me better. So, from a working relationship standpoint it’s better that way. I think having dealt with (Marlins GM) Larry Beinfest trying to get Dan Uggla ...

Yeah, but the thing to remember is Brewers were in San Francisco over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, which in San Francisco is kinda like what Saint Patricks Day is back east. That is, everyone drinks way, way more than they should and civility tends to go out the window. The fact that May 5th was a Saturday may have led to some going more overboard than they would normally.

I'm not saying that Braun didn't have an especially miserable visit to San Francisco or that the jeers were justified. But I think that the intensity, to some degree, was greater for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with Braun.

In fairness, St. Patricks Day in SF is also just as bad, or good depending on your viewpoint. As for me, my wife and I prefer to drink away from the crowd. We get to know our bartenders a lot better that way.

Or put another way, some powerlifters also use AAS. They definitely do not have the paper thin skin, and the muscle definition of pro bodybuilders. Because they're not dieting, and certainly are not restricting water consumption.

Totally depends on what weightclass you're talking about. Heavyweight powerlifters are not lean, but many lower weight class lifters are quite lean. And most do dehydrate to make weight.

See I have the opposite view. The opening of the pro circuit just ruined drinking for me. Oh for the days when people drank out of pure love for it rather than the endorsements.

Yeah, but with the IOC's refusal to give drinking the Olympic spotlight it deserves, what was the alternative? I'm sure the days when an amateur could compete in the 500 ml Vodka Freestyle were fun, but times move on.
