That's not a very jazzy jazz lineup.

Pretty sure Branford did a "take me out" for the Burns baseball series.

Pretty sure Sonny Rollins quotes it in one of his solos too but more importantly his nickname is "Newk" due to his resemblance to Don Newcombe.

And crap smooth jazz it may be, Bernie Williams makes the squad due to an actual ability to play baseball (well, once upon a time :-)

Legend has it that Buddy Rich would sometimes stop the tour bus if they were passing an open field, and the whole band would get out & play baseball.
Buddy was the only one who got to bat.
