The disarray in the Nationals’ bullpen reached a bizarre and self-inflicted new height Monday night. After the Nationals’ 8-0 loss to the Giants, Manager Davey Johnson revealed that set-up man Ryan Mattheus had broken his right hand Sunday when he punched his locker after a dreadful performance, landing him on the disabled list and leaving the Nationals scrambling for fresh arms.

Ugh - back when I collected baseball cards you got, you know, cards. Never once did I get "game used" jersey of my favorite player and you know what? I wouldn't have wanted that, either.
Also, the fake autographs on my Topps/Fleer/Donruss/Bowman 1988 sets were hipper than the crap Ken pulled, too.
When I think of all the baseball cards that my friends and I destroyed by using them to make engine sounds in the spokes of our bicycles...shudder. Some of them had to be the Good Ones, too.

You mean the facsimile autographs? I don't think any of those sets had them. Hell, Bowman didn't start up again until 1989. Nitpicking aside, I agree.

If you're talking 1950's and/or 1960's, probably. Almost anything after that, not so much.

The Canadian hockey jersey is rather centrally located in the shot. Is this guy the increasingly common Japanese baseball-hockey cross-over fan? Or just a memorabilia fan.
