If he's such a great defensive player, how come he's not at shortstop instead of Desmond?

Desmond is much taller. Guys his height almost never play 2B.

Interesting observation. I wouldn't have guessed there was much difference in height between the positions. But since WWII, 33% of SS have been over 6' (6-1 or more) compared to just 18% of 2B. And there have been 10 SS who were 6-3 or taller, compared to just 1 2B. (min 2000 PA for all)
