Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose said Thursday he won't close the door on returning for the playoffs if his surgically-repaired knee is "healthy and the situation is right."
but you could just about play an all-star game with with guys who AREN'T playing
Nuggets streak was stopped last as they lost to Cavs. Lawson and Co. didn't show up. This make them 0-3 on BtoB with only the Rockets being a +.500 team that beat them. So hopefully this is not gonna be a real impact but a small sample run
I've been impressed with Shaw's ability to find and fix problems so far. Their effort and focus in back-to-backs IS a problem, but I am willing to give Shaw some time to fix that as well.
On his first day of practice: "I'm coming here with my hard hat on and having me two sandwiches."
On being named captain: "I'm like a toll booth. Sooner or later, you have to come to me."
On his candid nature: "The only time I bit my tongue was when I was a kid and fell off my bike. It hurt, so I never did it again."
Some of his comments after the franchise-worst, 53-point loss to Minnesota in November that led to his $50,000 fine: "If we're not trying to win or get to the playoffs, we might as well just play young guys and sit everybody else on the bench and get blown out by 50 every night. [Floyd's] the coach. I'll express it to him. That's how I am, like it or not. They can trade me. But I'm going to speak my mind.?
"If Tim challenged our effort, you have to challenge the way he does things too. He makes lineup changes every day. The last two nights, the guys he rotated in [at small forward] got killed at the position. We just can't go out and throw one guy in one night and another guy in one night. We have to be more consistent."
On fallout from $50,000 fine: "You buy a chocolate cake, you know what's in it. You buy a loaf of bread, you know how many slices come with it. So how many sandwiches you want and how many slices of cake you want? I'm all about having a good time and respecting my teammates. I respect Tim. But things happen. Brothers get into it. Husbands and wife do too."
After a 32-point loss to New Jersey in November: "This isn't like a flat tire you can fix and keep on riding. This is a blowout with no spare and nothing's open for 100 miles. So we have to do some walking."
On a 3-13 start: "When you're 3-13, you're still in the woods. 'We're so deep and low in the woods that we can't even start a fire big enough for anybody to see us, see our fire or even any smoke signals.''
On his play: ''I was a Cadillac with the back window shot out when they bought me,'' said Oakley, 37, a 16-year veteran. ''So they're going to ride it or put it in the shop. The window still ain't fixed. So what do you want? It's still $3,099. Take it or leave it. I ain't really said nothing yet.''
On Jerry Krause: "He's been around a long time and won championships. They had a dynasty here. Now they've got a coffee shop."
On officiating: "Some nights, [the referees] are going to blow whistles. And some nights, they're going to blow bubbles."
On not playing down the stretch: "I'm cool with whatever. I'll just keep eating my bread, sipping my soup and serving my time. But the chicken is going to lay some more eggs one day.''
And finally, after 29-point loss to Milwaukee on March 12: "It was like a cookout. They had everything--barbecue chicken, wing dings, shrimp cocktail, potato salad, chips and dip. They had a party. We just watched it."

Greg Anthony on call for TNT. He and Oakley used to have contests during the Floyd era on who could dress more like a 1920s gangster.

Wow. in the 164 minutes that Burke has been on the floor w/ Favs, Favors has a TS% .713. That's REALLY high. Getting great looks.
SACRAMENTO -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will make his season debut Sunday against the Toronto Raptors at Staples Center. It will mark his first game since tearing the Achilles in his left leg nearly eight months ago.
Bryant announced the news by linking to a two-minute video on his Facebook page Friday afternoon. The video showed his No. 24 Lakers uniform floating in the middle of the screen and being battered by the elements -- wind, rain, snow, etc. Eventually the jersey is torn the down the middle of the chest, presumably representing the Achilles tear that Bryant suffered, before being repaired with a blinding beam of sunlight.
The scoring area in the NBA is about 1,300 square feet. In other words, the tactical zone in which NBA offenses operate is about the same size as a spacious three-bedroom condo on Biscayne Boulevard.
i'm predicting a sixers bobcats blowout tonight at charlotte. 20+ point win, despite with MCW being out of the lineup.
I thought Shaw had solved this problem but I guess not
Frank just got a super cushy job.
He should just mail it in on the daily reports. "Lookin' good. Maybe call a few less plays, and don't get so excited on the bench."
That was horrible. I wish they would die. (Is that too harsh?)
RT @JADubin5: Pablo had a +/- of 0 in 17 minutes by the end of the 3Q. Knicks were -36 in the other 19 minutes.
RT @HerringWSJ: Felton: "I don't think we had a bad effort. Those guys hit shots."
RT @HerringWSJ: Shumpert says a couple of shots the team normally hits didn't fall, and that game would've been a lot different.
Danny Ainge is probably pissed off somewhere. Even he couldn't have imagined a conference so bad the Celtics would be a playoff team, one with freaking home court advantage!
Ha there ever been a worse time for NY sports vis a vis their smaller neighbor to the north? The Celtics are better than the Knicks and Nets, the Red Sox better than the Yankees and Mets, the Patriots better than Jets and Giants, and the Bruins are better than the Rangers and islanders.
The Celtics are probably better than the KNets combined squad, no?
I would think he'd be pleased he has so many young players playing so well and a very young, very talented coach who has made a seemingly seamless transition from college to the pros.
and the whole tanking thing isn't even necessary b/c of all the picks they get back from the nets. even with the atlanta pick swap in 2014, those are going to be some good picks.
Kings beat Utah in a pretty fun game, Isaiah Thomas remains in god mode, someone need to rescue him to a good team. or make the Kings a good team. I'd say the Kings are one good wing away from being at least a borderline playoff team.

Rudy Gay is headed to the Kings, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. He has been pulled out of the Raptors lineup for tonight.
I'm not even sure how big a factor talent is in determining the regular season W/L records of non-elite NBA teams....
If Ziller thinks that Gay will make SACTO lose more, then IMO TZ should be behind this. Given the competitive ecology of the West (which of course can change quickly), their lack of a true franchise anchor, and the fact that Cousins is locked up, SACTO should probably be thinking "ping pong balls" more than "Ws".
Nice move by Toronto. Clears cap, and they get some pieces which could be useful in another deal or to improve the team, notably Vazquez. Patterson/Salmons can replace Gay for the most part, and they might be better fits.
Kobe played terrible yesterday- 2-9 from the field and 8 turnovers. And all of his 3 attempts were cinder blocks. I realize this was his first game back, but if I were a Laker fan, I'd be very concerned

Thibs said Deng thinks he tweaked Achilles/calf in Pistons game on Nov. 27. He has played 137 minutes in the three games since.
Dangle Deng to cripple this year's team (for lottery purposes) and/or shed Carlos Boozer's deal (expiring next season). Something like "Deng and Boozer to Detroit for Greg Monroe and the Villanueva-Stuckey expirings," "Deng and Boozer to Boston for Jeff Green and the Kris Humphries–Keith Bogans expirings," or maybe even just "Deng to Denver for the still-healing Danilo Gallinari and Evan Fournier."
Cousins, Williams, Gay, McLemore, and Thomas could make for a fun offensive unit.
The Kobe criticism is pretty ridiculous for his very first game back.
