It’s one thing for Michael the Kay and Sen. Al Leiter to screw this up last night…but the BBWAA high muckety-muck? “Rookie shortstop Adam Rosales smoked a first-pitch fastball to left-center for his first career home run.”
Read More...Sabathia was taken deep on the first pitch of the game. Rookie shortstop Adam Rosales smoked a first-pitch fastball to left-center for his first career home run. Sabathis settled down nicely but needed major help from second baseman Robinson Cano to get out of a fifth-inning ...

That's right. They aren't even allowed to compete until they get a new stadium.
No, that's only for hitters. Everyone knows that PEDs only help hitting.
Except for Roger Clemens.
They've asked for an exemption under what is now known as the Guillermo Moto Clause. However, given the A's also had Manny in the organization in 2012, this is likely to be denied by MLB's Unwritten Rules Committee.
Well he definitely can eat.
I hate people who whine about the hormones in Melk, yet have no qualms about hitting the pharmacy at the first sign of Colon trouble.
Bravo!

Brandon McCarthy

Does Colon block McCarthy because of the $$ or because of spots in the rotation? Is $3mill really that big of a deal in Oakland?
Right now you have Anderson/Colon/Griffin/Millone/Parker with Straily and Peacock coming up. There's room for McCarthy but it would force one of the other 5 to be a swingman, or for McCarthy to take that role, and I imagine there will be a fair demand for him, assuming he's healthy and ready to go. I don't know what they're planning but IF it was a choice between Colon and McCarthy, I'll be sad they chose Colon.
I think the fact that the league is awash in cash and the available starting pitchers are not awesome is going to be the biggest problem. When someone offers McCarthy a lot of money, the A's have other options on the mound and can take a little longer view. They may still want to sign him, but now they don't *have* to sign him.
I, too, would really miss McCarthy if he doesn't come back
Man, that's horrible - first McCarthy had to have brain surgery, and now he's got to deal with Colon blockage too?
As to the topic, I was just thinking about this during a lot of driving this weekend and have to think a trade of surplus young arms for a quality bat might finally be in the works. Maybe Beane finally gets that F'n A trade done. McCarthy and Colon stay as veteran presence for the kids.
Carb-o-lot Loon was the best I could come up with.
