CBS is (understandably) trying to pump up the drama in UF-Northwestern State, and NWS is playing well, but it doesn't really feel like this game is truly in doubt yet. Northwestern hasn't led yet, haven't been within one possession for most of the first half and UF doesn't seem like it's about to collapse in the face of NWS' pace.

Yeah, I've been vexed by the Gophers the the last few years as an alum. Losing Mbakwe halfway through the season last year really sucked.

10 second run off should be an option on this fouling gig, particularly back court fouls. Imposing a penalty on back court fouling would really help the constant folding which taints these games.

Dominating performance from both but Memphis is just...ugh. B1G could conveivably get 5 teams into the sweet 16. Illinois has no shot but Minny is about as high variance as you get. They play like they did early in B1G play and the other night, they might have something. Florida is a paper tiger imo, largely untested and perhaps not ready for the level of interior length and athleticism Minny has.

Of course, Minny could easily #### the bed and lose by 20. That's what they do.

Memphis kind of has their plan, don't they? Play no one, post a gaudy record, and rely on the shine on their vacated Final Four to make people think they're still relevant and a team to be reckoned with.

I get your point about UF - with the SEC so down this year there were not many opportunities to impress. But if the Gators play defense like they did yesterday and if any one of their outside threats heats up I don't see the Gophers having any chance. Billy is a better coach than Tubby, Patric Young can hold his own down low, and I don't see Minny having enough speed to cover the Gator guards

Oregon "upsets" St Louis (Oregon being seeded poorly diminishes the level of the upset a bit, I think).

Was Oregon really poorly seeded? KenPom puts them 39th in the country, Sagarin at 38, 42 or 42, depending on method. So maybe a 10 or 11 seed instead of a 12, but I'm not seeing the seeding being quite so bad. They were the 64th "luckiest" team according to KenPom, so maybe they have a systematic advantage that their peripherals miss?

Oregon looks bad mainly because of their slump after their PG (Artis) got injured.

The realist/cynic in me doesn't see Cal pulling off the upset but I hope they do. It'd be awesome to see them in person in the Sweet Sixteen.
