198: The last one or the air ball before it?
I don't know if anything annoys me more (in a basketball context; terrorism is slightly more bothersome) than a team not even getting a shot off at the buzzer. Or, in Butler's case, taking a remarkable bit of good fortune and then wasting it by screwing around for two seconds with 2.9 on the clock, only to end up quite literally throwing the ball at the basket.
The realist/cynic in me doesn't see Cal pulling off the upset but I hope they do.
it's bad basketball
You can't tell me that Adrian Payne alley-oop or that white dude on Florida Golf Coast's alley-oop weren't get out of your seat moments.
Having watched the game, I'm really annoyed with Crabbe. After watching the UNLV game, I thought Cal could attack Syracuse's zone by getting Crabbe the ball in motion at the free throw line and letting him set up shots for himself and the big men inside. Instead, Crabbe spent something like 90% of the game 30-40 feet from the basket. I don't blame him for not scoring a lot; I do blame him for not getting involved in the offense at all.
The turnovers though are probably going to do them in. Most of them are a result of OSU's pressure, but some of them are just carelessness with the ball.
Yes, that's the rule on the restricted area. The rule where you get into position before the guy takes off, however, was suspended for that particular play. That was a ######## call, though I guess the Cyclones have gotten used to that in late-game situations this season.
OTOH, if he lowers his shoulder to get through you, I'm fine calling that a charge. But being landed on when a guy shoots a tough layup? That's not a charge.
are there any pure shooters in the remaining tourney? anyone who if they get an open look you are thinking 'that's a score'
good to know
Anyone know anything about vividseats? They have better prices than stubhub for Thursday, but I've never heard of them.
Jesus that is some terrible work by Temple.
Your top priority there has to be to defend the three-point line. You don't want to give up anything, of course, but a two still leaves you with a one-possession game.
Apropos of nothing, does anyone actually like the alternating possession arrow?
That was more complicated than it needed to be, but you've got to love a Sweet 16 match-up against, at best, a 7 seed.
This guy Comer on FGCU is fun to watch. Good court vision, nice passing.
I'm hoping for a Kansas/Florida Elite 8 matchup, not just for my bracket reasons, but because I think it has the potential to be the best game of the tournament.
Is FGCU the first 15 seed in the Sweet 16? I know I've seen a few 15s win a game (Hampton, Lehigh), but can't remember any of them winning 2 games.
Who was the dude with goggles who played for Utah, nicknamed Big Dog--was it Austin Carr or Antoine Carr? Creighton has a clone playing down low.
who was the last college player to average 40 PPG?
