Not sure why no one has put up a new thread yet, then I remember that only 10-12 guys here care about the NBA.

we won’t detract from what this site is really about: the IRS and Biogenesis.

Has there ever been a worse Juve kit? Love the "C" on Dortmund..one of their best kits in a George Halas sort of vein.

Meanwhile in the "pointless results that won't really change anything" Depo is finally starting to throttle Celta in the Galiththththian Derby. I have money on Depo this year, and it's money I've already put in the "sunk cost" department.

FPH: I knew that, and I have Contis on my roadie. Between Conti and Schwalbe, I've done much for the German economy over the years. Ultra-gatorskins are the best 700x23c you can get here in goathead New Mexico.

As for me, I very much like the delayed Semi draw (as opposed to drawing simultaneously). I just want somebody to knock Real out before it comes down to Barca. El Clasico has just about jumped the shark.

Some bad calls in the Everton-Man City game. Everton get a goal called offsides but was on (it was a tough call but still). Handball gets called on Fellaini and he's well in the box but ref for some reason puts him a yard outside. Everton did outplay City pretty clearly. At any rate, United have a chance to go 15 points clear with what should be a gimme game against Reading.

Hey, the USA was the place that got dicked out of the 2022 WC. England got screwed out of the 2018 one. So clearly they should move it to the US.

Snow football sighting: For those who find snow football best, they might play in a pretty good storm in Torino (hard to tell as my Russian is poor, i.e., nonexistent). Fun stuff..and yes, the teams are walking out into the mess.

Btw: The Samp/Inter game has been postponed by "rain" while this Torino/Lazio game is being played. This rather illogical decision-making process is better known as "we feel really, REALLY sorry for Inter having played so well and "lost" v. Spurs this week." Italy is refreshingly transparent in its bullsh*t.

Been in Lisbon for the past week: Sporting fans are great. Watching Malaga beat Porto with a group of Sporting fans was one of my more incredible hate-watching experiences and then Sporting-Setubal yesterday was excellent, given that Sporting seem to have a chronic inability to finish their chances at all (despite basically dominating the attacks, they seemed woefully unable to finish anything. What's happened to Ricky van Wolfswinkel?),

Heh. I actually meant in comparison with Vitoria Setubal, who weren't particularly good at finishing, but had a number of dangerous, on-target attacks, as opposed to a vast number of very dangerous, off-target attack.

Roster for Costa Rica. Injuries and general crapitude make the backline pretty unimpressive. Seems like the consensus is that Edu and/or Beasley will start at the back;

USA roster for the coming qualifiers. Back-line is going to feature at least three new faces (including Guzan). The game at the Azteca should be a blast.

Was just about to post that, I was surprised there weren't comments already. "Interesting" roster. The US Soccer page also has this explanation:

I am psyched for the Costa Rica game, I have great seats for it. The USWNT friendly drew a lively, packed house, this one will be crazy by comparison.

I'm not big on Klinsmann's reliance on MLSers but with the injury problems at this time I guess it's defensible. I'd rather see, say, Josh Gatt playing instead of Zusi but whatever.

I wonder what they'll do with the back four. I think Morrow's the only one who can play LB. Cameron should probably start at RB, but a CB combo of Goodson and Gonzalez kinda frightens me.

EDIT: Beasley at LB would be kind of awesome. I hope that happens.

I'm not especially impressed by Klinsmann's tenure but I must acknowledge that, in 2013, whether Carlos Bocanegra should be an automatic pick in central defense or not is a legitimate question puts the challenge of managing the USMNT in perspective for me.

Not that a lack of talent available at all absolves Klinsmann of plausible criticism about his manner of easing Bocanegra out of the squad or the integration of the German players in the squad.

My favorite thing about the kit they beat Ajax, undeservedly, on penalties in was that they were just starting to integrate their badge onto their shirt, practically the last club of any consequence in Europe to do so. But the idea of putting the Juve badge on a shirt needed some time to sink in...so nuzzled it under the collar where hardly anybody would notice it was there. The year after it was on a sleeve. It took until 1999 for it to finally appear on the breast like it's supposed to.

Juve wore pink before they adopted Notts County's kit, thus the hommage.

Flynn, part of their reticence at making room for the badge was that they believed that "always" needed to make sure that there was room on the kit for the scudetto. Italian clubs who win the double frequently struggle with how to make sure their badge, their kit manufacturer's logo, the scudetoo and the tricolor bullseye (for Coppa Italia winners) should all fit; at least one of them can be relegated to a sleeve.

I have a dark sense of humor and the best combination of awful and funny that I've seen this year was their response to taunting about Jimmy Savile during the FA cup. Looks like Norwich has signed van Wolfswinkel. I'm looking forward to this summer, I am curious to see how the tv deal might impact the PL. I think there might be a mass exodus to the PL, especially from the Iberian leagues and Ligue 1. It was amazing to me last year that a Welsh club was getting players from some of the bigger La Liga clubs. The hand wringing in the press and by Wenger has been vastly overdone. I think there is a real chance that the PL might continue to be dominant going forward by default. People can and do criticize the English style of play, but lets face it if other leagues are up against a 75 percent tax rate or can't pay wages the PL is going to benefit, especially with the new money.

Spent some time yesterday thinking about the WCQ tomorrow night with Costa Rica. I feel like this is the worst possible time to have Tim Howard out. It's not that Guzan is that big a drop from Howard but it seems to me that one of Howard's strenghts is his ability to take charge of the backline and organize them while I'm not sure Guzan has that skill. While Guzan has been around awhile he's relatively light on actual game experience, he's been a long time backup.

With the very weak and inexperienced collection of fullbacks the US will roll out for these matches it seems that having Howard as a steadying force would be more valuable than it usually is.
