Love the All-Star game. Hate the All-Star break.
Last night my little league team had the bases loaded. One of the dad's watching the game told our batter as he walked from the on deck circle "I'll give you $20 if you hit a grand slam." Two of the other dads agreed. One pitch later they were reaching for their wallets.
I think, if I remember correctly, that there used to be games the night after the ASG.
Yea, this whole two days of no games things has me very confused. Has this happened before? Granted it allowed me to finish up the SABRX 101 course... well almost. In the middle of answering some of the last questions I apparently missed the cutoff which best i can tell was midnight last night. Oh well.
so throwing batting practice fastballs tuckers him out?

The Indians are calling up a pitcher named CC Lee? That's so awesome.
I think he also suffered on the national broadcasts because he clearly doesn't watch all 30 teams
McCarver broadcast Giants games one season long ago and he was beyond terrible. His lack of familiarity with the Giants players was exacerbated by his "know-it-all" attitude. It was like listening to the loud-mouth at the end of the bar nonstop during every game of a long season. Several times a week he'd say something so profoundly stupid that you'd swear he had never seen a baseball game before.
A lot of that is handed to them in the media guide. All he has to do is read it and not forget it.
Pirates just took the lead 3-2 in bottom 8th, now have runners at 3B, 2B with nobody out. Curious to know: why would the Rockies pitch out in that situation? The Pirates could easily score even with a sac fly, so were they expecting the runner at 3B to steal home? Weird.
Ouch! Marte took a pitch off his helmet in the 7th, left the game as a precaution. Looked nasty, but he looked OK. Pirates TV just showed a replay.
why was the Pirates run in the seventh inning earned?
There was only 1 out when the throwing error occurred. Change Harrison's ROE into a groundout and keep everything else the same, and Mercer still scores.
Pitching Change: Rex Brothers replaces Jorge De La Rosa, batting 9th.
1.Pedro Alvarez strikes out swinging,
2.Jordy Mercer singles
wild pitch by Rex Brothers, Jordy Mercer to 2nd.
3.Josh Harrison reaches on a throwing error by third baseman Nolan Arenado.
4.Gregory Polanco singles on a line drive to left fielder Corey Dickerson. Jordy Mercer to 3rd. Josh Harrison to 2nd.
5.Starling Marte hit by pitch. Jordy Mercer scores. Josh Harrison to 3rd. Gregory Polanco to 2nd.
6.Andrew McCutchen strikes out swinging.
7.Russell Martin flies out to right fielder Carlos Gonzalez.
Anthony Rizzo has two homers today - and is now tied with Stanton for the NL lead.
At least no ground was lost in the division.
