Wasn't there a 1-2-3-4-5-6 inning?
OK, pull the trigger, Clint. Even with as much padding as has Adams, that just won't cut it.
If the Cardinals bring these runners in, I'll change what everyone is saying. At taht point, I leave Burnett out there until his arm falls off. They should have pulled him much faster. Once the game is out of hand, no need to burn your bullpne.
Hurdle waited way too long before getting someone loose.
Four runs down in the third inning is a sign that a game is out of hand?!? Please.
the problem is an exta base hit probably means the game is out of reach, you may as well treat as elim game
being down 3 runs is one thing, down 7 now makes it almost unreachable. Toss one game.
That inning was (er, has been) Lefty Williams-worthy.
cant imagine Sparky or Dick WIlliams leaving the guy in that long...
Your dog must be pretty tired by now.
I like your optimism. I'm guessing the Cards' win expectancy at this point's north of 99 percent, without even taking Wainwright being the mound opponent into account.
seems to me, it's one thing to yank the pitcher down 3 with one on, but with 3 ducks on the pond, the leverage in that situation is so huge it justifies probably bringing in a closer or someone as a short term stopgame. An extra base hit and your odds go from maybe 25% to 3% in a hurry.
I think the whole "pitchers need a role" is apt in the postseason. Be ready to get loose in a hurry in the first three innings should be someone's role. They should be at the point where 10 warmup tosses and they're ready.
What kind of dog, Eso?
