Harper wasn't hitting well before he went down, who knows what he'll contribute when he decides to grace the team with his presence.
Now if Nuno can just get this run to hold up. (smile)
Jose Abreu folks, 2 more HR tonight, his slash line is approaching absurd territory, both for the incredible power, and the relative lack of walks given said power: 280/330/630. He has an ISO of .350. Wow.
(Springer is going to make it interesting though)
Tanaka looks at you with a raised eyebrow.
Two man race between Jose and Tanaka. If both stay healthy you'd expect 4-6 WAR each and both will also have excellent counting stats. Abreu might have 50 homeruns and 150 RBI, Tanaka 20 wins and 200k.
M Rojas out at home on runner's fielder's choice, D Gordon to third on runner's fielder's choice.
Since I'm guessing you're watching it... did he try to score on a wild pitch that wasn't as wild as he thought?
Sean Doolittle is amazing. 13 strikes, one ball in his outing today.
His SO/BB ratio is now 55.00. That's pretty good.
I agree that the hitters will tell you how the pitcher is doing and it looks like Bumgarner aint doing so well tonight.
So, random statistical oddity from today's Cubs/Nats game: after the game, the two starting pitchers (Hammel and Roark) have identical W-L records (7-5) AND identical ERAs (2.98). What are the chances of that happening...
Watching the Giants game with my Roku delivering the radio play-by-play, but I'm still subjected to the camera panning around the crowd and zooming in on guys chowing down on nachos, babies drooling, and fans with goofy headgear on. Never, ever, ever any shot of the defensive alignment or even the pitcher scratching his nuts. Why don't they televise a channel with nothing but the people in the stands and the kayakers out in China Basin? Let's compare the ratings, maybe I'm on to something big!
A camera high up behind home plate with a view of the entire field and bleachers would be great for replays of almost every big play.
I still remember the days in which you would get in an argument with someone talking about a reliever blowing a save and they would say "If he would have blown 5 fewer saves, we would have won five more games and made the playoffs"..... bb-ref has pretty much destroyed those arguments with how easy it is to verify those results.
