Fight for your right to parIty.
They threw out Billy Hamilton?! Is that even legal?
Shane Robinson hits a single, then sac-bunt specialist Cozart bunts him to 2B. Now Billy Hamilton at the plate. Let's watch what happens...
Here's a vintage clip that showcases him at his best in the 2001 World Series.
not trying to razz the kid because he can really hit. but I really have to wonder about his long-term ability to play because guys with THAT build don't last.
frankly up close he looks like he has breasts for cr8ssakes
Man, the Cubs really put the scare quotes in "defense".
Love it: Rosenthal---he of the 100mph heater---gets Harper swinging on consecutive 87mph changeups leading off the 9th.
Yacht racing is a bit hoity-toity for me, but USA has come from down 8-1 to tie the America's Cup at 8-8. Deciding race on NBC Sports Channel now.
I saw dusty saying they might not carry Hamilton for the postseason? That seems nuts.
Who won the All-Star game this year?
Is it true that the WC game counts as a separate round of the playoffs for roster purposes. If so, you don't need more than the starter that you are using that day and carry pinch runners w/o much risk.
My recollection is that you have to keep the same roster for the WC game and the next round.
I have no idea what set him off or who got mad first, but Carlos Gomez hit a home run and started shouting at everyone on the Braves as he completed his trot.
He hit a tape measure shot to center, flip the bat and stared at his work for 15-20 seconds. Maholm and McCann started telling him to get his sorry ass in gear and move, he didn't like being told to act like a professional. Freddie Freeman got into him as he rounded 1B. McCann blocked him from HP (he never touched the plate) and things went sideways from there. Looks like Freeman, Gomez and Reed Johnson were ejected.
Run the bases like you've been there before and there's no problem.
Methinks that Sam's clock runs fast. 15-20 SECONDS??
I hope he [Matt Adams] manages to find a good trainer.
Apparently Gomez was hit on the knee by a Maholm pitch back in June, so maybe he carried a grudge?
So I watched the 'highlight' and...yeah, Gomez should have started running more quickly I guess. And he definitely shouldn't have blown up as he was running. But...WTF were the Braves doing there?
mouths off to the entire team while running the bases
Telling him to get off his primadonna ass and run the bases. It's not that hard to grasp, is it?
After getting mouthed off at, and with some Sam-esque language at that.
Except I actually did just time it and he touched first base at 8.7 seconds. So, yeah, not 20 seconds.
Again. Hit a HR and stand there for 10 ####### seconds and you're going to get some noise in your ear. Run like a professional, or hell, just slow trot like Justin Upton, and things will be fine. But stand there looking at home plate for 5-6 seconds before you even start slow-walking to 1B? Dude's lucky he got ejected. Saves him a pretty nasty bruise. (Which he will almost certainly receive in due course whenever the Brewers and Braves play in 2014.)
It sounds like whatever the Braves do, its justified, and whatever someone does to the Braves, its because they are a big meanie, game-disrepecting jerk (or worse if you let Freeman tell it). Sounds like everything is pretty much par for the course.

it was McCann blocking him from the plate.
it was on between those two before the HR, and everybody knew it - the radio guys remarked Gomez was giving him a wild stare and acting crazy after the first pitch swinging strike before the HR pitch was even thrown.
Go to MLB.com. Pull up the Braves game. Click the video link on GameDay. Start counting from the moment he swings to the moment he touches 1B. 10-11 seconds, easy. He was grandstanding like a little ##### and made a scene.
then on the pitch before the HR he nearly hit him and Gomez was steaming
