Have to love that one run scored...no hits in the inning. That should remind the old schoolists why there is a problem with batting average as a proxy for offense.
Jays Brett Lawrie tossed from the game (on same play so was mgr John Gibbons) when called out on strikes and dropping his gear at the plate. His helmet ended up bouncing in front of the plate and into the field of play.
I don't think, with today's rules, that the ump had a choice but to toss him? (Then again, the ump didn't have to call everything high and everything low as a strike?)
