In baseball, the name “Bob” has gone from extremely common to a marginal curiosity and nexus of confusion.
There was one active MLB Bob last year, Bobby Abreu, whose given name is “Bob” but goes by “Bobby”. In 2010 there were two - Abreu, and Bob Howry, whose given name is “Bobby” but goes by “Bob”. In 2009 we also had Bob McCrory.
In the future, will “Bob” be as unheard-of for baseball players as “Dick”? Can Bob Stumpo restore glory to this appellation? ...Read More...

Also, the general asymmetry.
I guess I can pretend these are some sort of alternate universe 1979 throwback unis...that they'll wear all year.
That's just laughably bad.

Maybe a little music will help wash it out?
I was thinking it was either like a campground that had a hokey Native American theme, or an amusement park logo. MARLINWORLD!
I liked the teal ...
The same reason any team changes jerseys: to sell more of them. In the Marlins case, 75 more.
I don't see the state of Florida. Oh god, its like the Expos logo all over again. Why must logos be magic eye posters?
If his name's attached to that, then maybe it should be hemlock instead.
Are you suggesting that Jeffrey Loria might be difficult to work for? Come on now, don't be silly.
No, I think it's still the Padres' camo alternate jerseys. A nice sentiment, but a terrible look.
When I was a kid, I always wondered why the Expos' logo said "elb".
And, per a local affiliate, the name is changing to the Miami Marlins.
I still want an upside-down Whataburger when I see it.
Yep. When I saw this I thought bastard child of the '70s Expos logo and Astros uni.
You gotta admit if they just do this with their blue white yellow and orange, they will make a permanent impact on baseball history.
Wait...they didn't? (This is an entirely serious post)
Who has the worst current uniforms in MLB? I think it may already be the Marlins.
There aren't many bad ones anymore. We're in a period of blandness. The Blue Jays' lettering that's half blue and half some charcoal/steel-gray color makes most of their jerseys look awful, and their powder blue pullover outfits look pretty cool but also look pretty silly because the shirt and pants are the same color. Keep the throwback top, use white pants.
I think half the teams in the NBA have blue and orange or blue and yellow color schemes right now. Maybe baseball is following their lead. Better than following the lead of the NFL and ending every makeover with a boring combination of red, blue, and gray, like the Angels, Twins and Nationals have been doing.
I've said this before, but the Rangers don't have a uniform. Oh, all the Rangers wear the same thing on a given night, but it could be red, white, blue, grey, or mix-n-match. I believe the starting pitcher gets to choose, and I guess the only constraint is that they can't wear "home whites" on the road. This makes it difficult to even have an opinion about their uniform. Their typography is meh, if unoffensive, the cap has a "T" (interesting choice), the tailoring looks like anyone else's, and the only real touches of interest are the high socks on David Murphy and Ian Kinsler.
Or, possibly, second or third bottle of Danimals.
I like the new Jays logo as well. Sticking with what works.
