A classic Ha Ha Only Serious.
National is one of my favorite airports - clean, sunny, close to the city, nice views on takeoff/landing, steps from public transport, breezy security lines.
Adam Jones is pretty much a God in Baltimore. He can say whatever he wants.
If you want a terrible airport, go to JFK. That place sucks. Always crowded, always dirty, hard to hear things like gate change announcements. Food costs New York plus airport prices. Last time I was there they had what looked like an ad hoc security checkpoint in a hall way. And if you want to charge a cell phone it is extremely likely that you'll end up crouching next to a vending machine to use an outlet.
In fact, Tempelhof might be the only airport I can think of that is legitimately a tourist attraction in its own right (it's also a nice city park, with a lot of kite boarders zooming up and down the runways).
National is great for getting in and out of security. No free Wi-Fi sucks.
Just an observation, but you are the only person who was born and raised in the region that I've seen call National airport by the Richmond-appointed name.
I also agree that Miami is terrible. So is Ft. Lauderdale.
Among long time residents, "Reagan" is about as common a usage as "Avenue of the Americas" is for New Yorkers, or "Thurgood Marshall" is for "BWI".
Changi (Singapore) has a lot of cool stuff in it too.
I love Dulles and dislike intensely National.
Sad man details sad trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando (and back!) just to try out a seat
