Boz pays homage to the gritty, gutsy, scrappy, first place 2013 underdog Yankees:
Read More...Perhaps for the first time in their history, the Yankees now epitomize exactly the kind of team that always used to try to beat them: a group of inspired-by-adversity, too-old-or-too-young, one-last-chance players who band together to prove that baseball is a team game, not just an aggregation of talent and fat contracts.
Put a few all-star seasons, such as Cano’s 31 RBI, Kiroda’s 1.99 ERA and Rivera’s 16 ...

< 1 2 3So you guys get to post hateful crap like this on a regular basis but YR doesn't get to tweak you with a little satire? Maybe you'd prefer that he just repay your gratuitous insults in kind?
In fairness, I'm sure that some of these anti-Yankee "haters" are just engaging in the same kind of conscious self-parody that YR does, only they're not nearly as good at it as he is. The only one who even comes close to him is Gamingboy when he goes into one of his classic over the top anti-Yankee rants.
(EDIT: I figured out the perfect example! You know how awful Joey B. acts when the Nationals do well? That's Yankee fans. All the time. Except with this additional layer of wanting fans of the opposing teams to also root for the Yankees. We get it; you root for the team that wins all the time. Be classy about it for a change.)
Actually, most people don't hate other people based on what sports team they root for. It's not a protected category (yet) like race, sex, national origin, etc, but, whatever the rationalizations, it really doesn't say anything good about the haters. Teasing, poking fun at, even mocking are OK - hating, not so much.
Just out of curiosity, where in the hell is THAT coming from? Joey B is a Nats fan solely by accident of geography, and could just as easily be a fan of whatever team you happen to root for, which from your handle I guess is the Yankees West.** Why should anyone ever care what team anyone else roots for? This is baseball, for Crissakes.
**The defining characteristic of both Yankees East and Yankees West is splurging on Big Name free agents. Do you really need for someone to make a list of all the Big Name free agents the Angels have corralled over the past 33 years? If you were a fan of a small market team, your cry would be a lot more convincing.
---------------------------------
This, this, then trillion times this. Other super-franchises in other sports (Lakers, Red Wings) win all the time and have obnoxious fans, but at least their fans understand that they ought to be hated for their success. Yankee fans, on the other hand, throw up their hands and say, "But why?? We're so classy!!"
You really do need to take a lesson in recognizing self-directed parody. Hell, I love YR's schtick for many reasons, but I'm more in favor of the luxury tax than half the people here who rant against the Yankees.
