Yes. Times are now up for the first two days.

So the Braves may get a chance to do in five games what they couldn't do in 162. I'm really surprised that they dropped the "division teams can't meet up in the first round" rule.

I'm betting the Cards take the Braves down, giving rise to the inevitable angst about the least deserving team taking down the better regular season team based on a coinflip game.

I know either the O's or the Rangers are going to be moving on, but it really felt like their seasons were ending during their respective games today.

I think it's more that the Wild Card game doesn't feel like it's really a playoff berth, so they feel like they've missed the playoffs, with one more chance to get in.

I think if Baltimore can win, they've got a great chance to knock off the Yankees.

So the sum total of the impact of the new format on the AL playoff races this year ended up being about as close to nothing as possible. HFA for the O's-Rangers game would have been decided by a coin flip instead of head-to-head record, and the first round matchups would have depended on the outcome of that game, but that's about it, right?

with the bullpen the braves have, i would not bet against them.

Always iffy trying to decide which playoff match-up is best for your team, but I guess the Yankees should root for the Orioles to win the play-in game in 18 innings. Shorter travel to Baltimore, which might have slight carryover if the yanks can get past Baltimore to the ALCS.
