as far as managers have gone, he’s the best I’ve ever been around.
"But from what I've seen, Ryne came in and made some changes and addressed some issues that I think were being overlooked. So from that standpoint, as much as I miss Charlie, I think that Ryne is going to do a good job, and I think he's going to bring back a little more of the Phillie baseball style than we've had the last couple of years. We really haven't had that whole team effort and that whole team hustle that I think we've had in the prior years." The issues? “Lost in translation”
A good rule of thumb on the internet is that you should ignore any comment that begins "So let me get this straight".
So let me get this straight. Halladay was offended by seeing his own comments quoted in newspapers?
I don't know if you've ever been quoted in a newspaper, but it's amazing how poorly your own words can be used. When I've talked to reporters I try to keep it wishy-washy as possible, so I've never gotten in much trouble, but people I know have been taken wildly out of context and jammed into some reporter's pre-conceived story idea saying stuff that comes across badly and doesn't reflect the point they were trying to make. It sucks. (I'm in science)
This is why we never let anyone but the press office talk to reporters back when I worked on political campaigns. You won't even realize you've said something that will cause a problem until it's in the newspapers/in a blog post.
