Mike, Vlad and Russ, to what do y'all attribute Pittsburgh's fielding improvement? It doesn't look like there're too many lineup changes, especially up the middle.

I think Walker has been a bit better than last year, but it's mostly the OF. McCutchen has been fantastic this year, Tabata/Presley have been very good, and I think the combined speed in LF and CF is making things easy for the guys in RF (and possibly even the guys up the middle).

Tough night last night, although I'm happy they clawed back to make it close. Tonight is critical... I hope the team is up to it.

A lot of the Pirates' defensive improvement has just been experience. Young players need to learn how to play the hitters and to adjust to the different sight lines that you get in major league ballparks (most minor league ballparks don't have the upper decks that you have in the majors).

It was nice to see a standing room only PNC Park tonite, regardless of outcome.

The Pirates' announcers said that weekend games for the rest of season had completely sold out, which is also fantastic to hear.
