Everyone nervously laughs, thinking this is some kind of gag. But then Teddy runs in to the mound, and dispenses his "head" and uniform to reveal his true identity as STEPHEN STRASBURG! The Yankees immediately appeal to the Umpires and the Commissioner to declare this move illegal, as Strasburg wasn't on the roster. However, as FOX tells Selig how awesome Game 7 of the series would get in the ratings, Selig announces that he is "making a one-time exception" to the roster rules (a member of the Yankee front office is later heard saying \"####### Melky.") As the crowd goes nuts, Teddy/Strasburg proceeds to strike out Cano and Teixeira and then gets A-Rod to fly out. The Nationals win game 6!
As long as he wears the rest of the Teddy outfit while he pitches, I'll allow it.
Yankees over Athletics in five: Behind the scenes, Fox begins to panic- if there's a Athletics-Giants World Series, their ratings will plummet to record lows. And what's worse, the Athletics- for all the underdog Moneyball stuff- would be ratings poison. While there is no overt conspiracy, the series is filled with questionable calls and unusual act-of-god style bounces, all of them seemingly breaking to the Yankees side. Even the Athletics' win in Game 3 comes only after a instant replay is needed to show that, yes, Jonny Gomes did hit a home run. The O.Co Coliseum, by the way, is by now completely filled with almost 60,000 people, as the tarps are off and Mount Davis is opened (they've said they will only remove them in case of the World Series, but the demand is enough that they do so early). This causes extreme problems in Game 5, as a furious late-game rally by the Athletics comes up short when a would-be walk-off run is cut down at home by, yes, Derek Jeter (although he does a normal throw this time, not a flip). Replay shows that Coco Crisp was clearly safe. The Yankees then promptly win in the 10th inning when Robinson Cano goes deep ONE PITCH after a ball is called on Balfour on what had been strike three all game. Soriano shuts down the Athletics, but the crowd is restless before the final out, verbally chanting loud obscenities at the Umps, the Yankees and Bud Selig throughout the final frame. Once the final out is made (a pop-out to, of course, Jeter), all hell breaks loose. Trash is thrown on the field, at least one chair lands near the Yankees dugout (Billy Beane has the alibi that he had gone to watch the Instructional League team). The Yankees and the Umpires are escorted from the stadium under police protection. Grant Balfour, in a postgame press conference, introduces the American populace to various Australian phrases that aren't printable.
If any of this #### comes even close to ####### happening, I am going to kill everyone. EVERYONE.

I would be at least mildly happy to see any of the teams win the World Series except the Rangers and to a lesser extent the Yankees. Therefore, one of them will win. I'd be least happy with the Rangers, so they'll win.

Flip the Orioles and the A's, and that's exactly where I am. Just out of curiosity, did you grow up in the NY area and follow baseball in the early 70's? I was born in NYC and have always loved the Yanks; grew up in DC and have a sentimental attachment to the Nats; loved the Hagy era Orioles; and grew attached to the A's while living in Berkeley in 1971. The Reds are the only outlier here, but I've kind of liked them ever since this team way back when.
And anyone who lived in Washington in the 70's is always going to hate the Rangers by definition.

Heh. Grew up in the NY and followed baseball beginning in the late 90's. Nats are there because I went to a bunch of their games while in law school in DC plus I love Strasburg, Harper, Clippard and Christian Garcia. A's because they are the best baseball tweeters. Orioles because it'd be a pretty great story. Don't really care too much about the rest and I hate the Rangers due to their back to back WS appearances and emergence as legitimate AL powerhouse.

In his choices, the NL decided that even though the Cardinals won the game, that nobody wants a repeat of last year, and the league interfere and advance the Braves.

For a couple of years I used to post the results of a playoff predictor system here. I still keep track of the outcomes, which were more successful than BPro's 'Secret Sauce'. (From 2006 to 2009, when 'Secret Sauce apparently could only manage 54 per cent success, this system achieved an 66.6% record.)
However, so far it is performing badly this offseason. It forecast
Reds over Giants (Loss)
Athletics over Tigers (Loss)
Nationals over Cardinals (Loss)
Yankees over Orioles (Win!)
For the LCS round, the predictor reads the runes as follows:
Yankees over Tigers
Giants over Cardinals
Then in the World Series:
Yankees over Giants.
The signals aren't strong, though. (Not like in the first round!)
Tigers over Yanks (thanks, schedulemakers!)
Cardinals over Giants
Tigers over Cardinals, with a game seven misplayed fly ball by John Jay in the 7th inning breaking up a scoreless tie and leading to a 4 to 1 Tiger win.
Tigers over Yanks
Giants over Cardinals, with entire St. Louis team contracting painful cases of the heartbreak of psorasis during the four game sweep, featuring four 17-0 shutouts.
