SABR invites all members to present their research findings to their colleagues attending SABR42 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Oral presentations are expected to last 20 minutes, followed by a five minute question-and-answer period. Posters will be presented, with the author on-hand to discuss the work, during a poster session of 90 or so minutes, and will probably remain on display throughout the convention. Abstracts covering all aspects of ...

1. The Ghost of Sox Fans PastI'll bet that it's so crowded, nobody goes there anymore.
And until they move it around 5,000 miles Southwest.
I don't live in the tri-state area.
However, is it worth the trip for anyone visiting the tri-state area? I might be there on a trip this year.
If you are going to see it, you can schedule it to go to the Museum and then see a game...
Lots of Yankees fans in the Marquesas?

BTW...Another swell gitogether is on Thursday, March 6th 6:00 at the 18th st Barnes & Ignoble Book Store.
The idea that you would refer to me this way is reprehensible.
Still, the highlight of the afternoon, besides putting faces with cyberpersonalities, was the spirited defense by one of the audience members of Kazuo Matsui- especially watching the Prospectus guys twitching as they tried to remain polite.
And here we have a BTF handle for someone, ripe for the picking.
1. Introductions
2. Discussion on accurate versus deadly accurate
3. Dan Szymborski mentioned!
4. Kazuo Matsui- great second baseman or the greatest second baseman?
5. Nate Silver is critical of Oliver Perez, but admits to having him on his fantasy baseball team. Claims this is for trade value. Left unsaid- possible PECOTA anti-Mexican bias?
6. Carlos Zambrano is a true-talent number 2 starter.
7. Fat pitchers may be better long-term bets. Long-term contract to David Wells, not to Jared from Subway.
8. Steven Goldman is excited about the young pitchers for the Yankees, as he always has been-who will ever forget his relentless "Jorge DePaula: Future Cy Young" columns?
9. Man in audience wants to use PECOTA to calculate his breakout potential with da ladies.
10. Nate Silver insists that optimism about young players should be tempered by regression to the mean. Also points out that while he said this, everyone in the room got that much closer to dying.
A great time was had by all. Each man looked different than his by line, which makes sense, since none of them is made of font.
I took one step into the Yogi Berra Museum...and by that time I was heading out.
Sartorially correct, as always, with my trusty A's cap.
1- Showed up a litte late because of hitting traffic and staying in the Berra parking (NO...not looking for Dale to score off of) to listen to rest of a Tinny & Lum Grand Prix downloaded soul slice.
2 - Found out that Randy Levine was running late (he never did show)...so they moved up the sched.
3 - Evan Weiner was sorta entertaining if the like the biz side of baseball...and ripe shots at O'Malley, Selig and Republicans.
4 - Jessica Rossner had a rather messed-up (not all her fault) video seggy of "Baseball Films of the Silent Era 1899-1926"...fairly interesting.
5 - Met Prof. Richard Puerzer (NJ SABR Chapter Leader, Primer lurker and a great guy) and we goofed on the Rock and Roll HOF, CBGB's in Vegas and the utter letdown of mediocre heroin.
6 - Went for pizza lunch with SNY's Mike Salfino and basically spent the rest of the day comparing bowling lines, snarking on Chris Schenkel's teeth and destroy-o-boy Mike Francesspool to the hilt.
