As I mentioned on Twitter, now I understand why I randomly got several e-mails from people wanting to know if they could "at least" count on ZiPS continuing. Thought it was kind of weird until I saw Sky Kalkman's twitter message.

Ditto on both counts. Hard to begrudge someone for living the dream. Good luck and godspeed.
I will be under contract with a team for 2011, so there won’t be much going on at this website. I can’t tell you which team, and I can’t tell you what I’m working on, so please don’t ask.

I don't really use projection systems for anything; but just on the black-box tip, wouldn't the team he's working for be pretty easy to track down for some enterprising soul? Can teams hire people in complete secret? Is that - I have to say against my better judgement - even legal?

Congrats to Sean, and RIP to one of my favorite websites.
McNally and SJ and Answer Guy (among others) have seen us simultaneously!

Thanks everyone.

You won't find my name if you look at MLB.com team front office listings as I'm not an official employee, just a contractor. So there's no requirement that such agreements be made public.
I'll still be around, and there's no harm in me discussing the merits of players in the past. It makes no difference to a team trying to compete in 2011 what someon'es opinion on whether Devon White was a better centerfielder than Paul Blair, or vice versa. But any discussion centered around free agent signings, trade offers, etc., I'll be staying away from.

On a related front: I'm sick and tired of baseball teams and media outlets hiring away the best talent from sites like this one. Sure, it makes for better team front offices and better news, but it's bad for discussion boards. And let's face it, the only reason anyone watches baseball anyway is so they can talk about it on the internets.

"Please Don't Ask" was a Genesis song written entirely by Phil Collins, and pitcher Phil Collins spent most of his career with the Phillies - so it must be Philadelphia!

Team: Springfield Isotopes
Job: Explore ways of using disfiguring mutations to our advantage on the baseball field.

Nope, still not on-topic. I'm not Sean Smith!
Does that include the guy donning Mr. Met attire?
Can you prove that?
Has anyone seen Szym and Sean at the same website at the same time?

Unless you've sold out and it's with the Red Sox in which case you're a bad person that should feel bad.
Congrats, Sean - I knew this day would come...
