One of the most formidable tools in a pro baseball pitcher’s arsenal is the consistency of pitching motion when throwing different kinds of pitches. If your delivery looks the same to an opposing batter when throwing a 95-mph fastball, a 80-mph curve, and a 85-mph change-up, well, you’ve really got something there. Texas pitcher Yu Darvish is ripping up the AL this year with a 4-1 record, 1.65 ERA, and 49 strikeouts, which prompted Drew Sheppard to layer five of Darvish’s pitches on top ...

Bit of a copycat. This guy yelled "Go Cowboys" before his execution last year. And, as should probably be expected, they were both copying a Raiders fan's shoutout before his 2007 execution, also referenced in the link.

You're all wrong. He was referring to the underrated 2001 Ashton Kutcher and James Van Der Beek film, Texas Rangers.

Heh. I just happened to get around to watching The Thin Blue Line today. The Rangers, alas, didn't come up.

Srul, they most certainly are. & I learned early in my time here that one of the easiest ways to have a classroom blow up on you is to let a student do a quite factual report on the racism of the Ranger past.

Texas Monthly ran a terrific cover story on the (law enforcement) Texas Rangers a few years back. I submit that the guy they put on the cover has the ass-kickingest name in the history of Texas law enforcement: Clete Buckaloo. Looks the part, too. Here's a link to the story and cover pic.

"One riot, one Ranger" is still a popular saying among testosterone-soaked Anglo-Texans, although there's also a famous corrido that turns that motto around:

Decía Gregorio Cortez con su pistola en la mano,

—No corran rinches cobardes con un solo mexicano

"And then Gregorio Cortez said, with his pistol in this hand:
—Don't run, cowardly Rangers, from just one Mexican."

They don't play that corrido at the Ballpark much.
