In the sense that the Pacific Ocean has a lot of water in it, yeah.
He called Darvish a quitter and insinuated he was a #####. Besides being a prick thing to say, he's the manager, he's supposed to have the player's well being in mind. And not, you know, encourage them to do retarded things.
That's not lamenting, that's being a jackass.
wanted Darvish to come back so “he doesn’t quit on his teammates
You would think that even in Dallas they could find a reporter who understands the concept of a pitching rotation.
If you go on IR you're out for the year, so you'll want to wait two weeks before making that decision.
I think you guys are thinking about football. The reporter was talking about Darvish going on the 15 day disabled list.
Is it even possible to quit on a team that 20 games out?
[EDIT] - and without the brilliance of 18, the world would have been deprived the awesome that is #20. So, kudos all around.
Anyway, Darvish has made 83 starts in the past three years and been consistently very good through the team's ups and downs, so much for his being a quitter. Washington, if stupid, is the stupidest manager ever to win a pennant in Arlington. I don't think questioning the one's guts or the other's brains makes the slightest sense, though it may be a fun way to backbite one's way through the last five weeks of a ghastly season :)
