I'm inclined to agree, but then I think of getting Koji Uehara for Chris Davis, a move that displayed some focus on 2011 for the Rangers and has ended up hurting them for the next three years.
If it makes you feel better, Davis has a 96 OPS+ this year
Meanwhile Rangers 1B have an OPS+ of 29 or something this year :)
The best guy they may have given up was Jair Jurrjens.
Anyway, having Davis in 2012 & 2013 would have been pretty nice considering how things worked out.
