Using the Bradford–Binet Intelligence Test…uhh, no.

The Gomes persona might offer the best evidence of an ‘07 dynamic within these Red Sox.

There might be some frustration for fans who choose to define success and failure by pure numbers with the outfielder hitting .183 with a .643 OPS. 7 years, $126mil isn't "$8 or $10 million per year." It is $8 PLUS $10 million per year.

This would be one of the rare cases where a GM shouldn't even return an agent's call.

I don't think I'd go over four years for Swisher. But I think he'll get five from someone.

And I don't think he's worth anything close to $18M per year. I'd maybe do 4/$50M.

edit: I should also add that I don't think he has to move to DH if his fielding in the OF declines significantly. He played a solid 1B this year and could probably handle that into his mid-to-late 30s.

Any contract for outfielder I would give only 1 or 2 years. Money at this points to me does not make a difference. Length of contract to see if the youngsters take a step forward would be my preference.

Now First base or shortstop I would even overpay for extend to somone more than 2 years.

I think trades are more likely for a 5th starter in more likely.

Any agree ?

Not likely. Soriano in LF, DeJesus in RF, Rizzo at 1B. DeJesus could move to CF but Soriano/DeJesus/Swisher is not a good OF. And Theo is pretty clearly trying to maintain financial flexibility.

I won't rule it out as he kinda needs to sign somebody on offense and there are no 3B out there ... and he can probably trade DeJesus somewhere.
