The day he turned over the reins, he was sitting at the desk and handed me his pen with a warm smile,” Henry wrote in an email.“I still have it. Red ink. I work more of my hours though in my home offices in Florida and in Brookline. But there is nothing like driving into Fenway Park to go to work. I am thankful every day that I get to do that. What has gotten into Gammons?
He's a witch!
... in a court of law ... a criminal court where the burden of proof is "beyond a reasonable doubt" ... in front of a jury of my peers ... and subject to appeal to a higher court.
Senility and/or stroke damage.

The gist of the article is that Valentine is still interested in baseball, works hard, and knows a lot, and if he and others can put 2012 in the past MLB has a lot to gain from him. All of that is probably true.
The problem I have is that what happened in 2012 is part of the package you get with Valentine. Like a teenager, he is sensitive to criticism and prone to lying in order to deflect it; he has the potential to be a PR nightmare. The role they would need him to be in would have to minimize the damage he can inflict, and I imagine there are few such roles for him in MLB. Putting 2012 in the past means overlooking some of Valentine's fundamental negatives, and that's not advisable.
