Interesting stuff.

John Farrell and Torey Lovullo looked down toward the Twins bullpen. They saw some stirring, as Minnesota lefty reliever Brian Duensing had grabbed a ball and tossed it a few times.

Then Duensing sat down. It was then the Red Sox manager and his bench coach knew they had put the right people in the right places.

“It’s a good feeling,” Lovullo said after the Red Sox’ 12-5 win over the Twins Saturday night, “when all the puzzle pieces fit perfectly.”

Bogaerts isn't even going to be a SS in the majors, according to damn near every scout who has a website or has seen him play. The word on him for the last year is that he was a future 3B. Not sure how Middlebrooks' emergence will change that, but I don't expect Middlebrooks to continue to hit anything like he did last season anyways, so it'll likely be a moot point.

I like Middlebrooks. If they add some bats to protect him, I think he'll hit 25-30 HRs with 35-45 doubles.

This perception seems to be changing. The issue with Bogaerts is his size (6'3, 180 now, but only 19 years old) not ability. Everything I've read about him lately says that he's capable of playing the position as long as he doesn't fill out too much. It seems there is a pretty decent chance he at least starts his career as a shortstop (in part due to Middlebrooks) before moving. If nothing else there is no urgency to move him off shortstop.

The other thing about him, and again, just from reading a lot about him, is he is a smart kid with a good work ethic.
