I don't understand it, BUT IT'S STILL A KIND OF A SILLY STATISTIC
I was surprised by the number of respondents who categorized Cabrera's defense as "pretty good" "good enough" "reasonably good" etc. Now, I take "good enough" to mean that given his offense, Miggy's defense is "good enough" (i.e., his offense is so otherwordly that unless he's standing on the bag with his eyes closed, he's good enough to trot out there every day). But "pretty good?"
But "pretty good?"
Of the 14 responses, 7 were for Trout, and 7 for Cabrera. Personally, given positional scarcity and defense, I'd go with Trout but I don't think it's absurd to make an argument for Cabrera. Only 4 players from the NL among the 10 responses.
I really don't think there is any supportable way of evaluating this question that produces Cabrera as the answer.
