Hey, if you don't like it, go to Russia
Also, it seems to be easier to sing the less you try and put your touch on it.
What would be a good song to replace it?
Also, it seems to be easier to sing the less you try and put your touch on it. Very few people can sing like Whitney Houston but very many think the can. The best rendition I've heard involved a barbershop quartet, which was easy to sing along with. I'm jealous of other countries that understand the idea of the national anthem as a group affair when I'm standing there while some "aspiring singer" is butchering the crap out of SSB.
I don't mind the song. My problem is that people who sing it feel compelled to call attention to themselves rather than just singing it straight. If you don't try to turn it into a "me me me" fest then it's fine.
Or you could do like the Portland Timbers and just have the attending fans sing the Star-Spangled Banner.
It's worse than we thought.
Wait, is that satire? How do we know? (smile)
"My Country Tis of Thee" uses the tune of "God Save the King/Queen", so, that's out.
The SSB is awesome. When Jimi Hendrix is performing it.
