Bah! No mention of Em Lindbeck...he was an on-base machine (.000/.500/.000)!

However, and I know this will irk the legion of Kaline fans out there, Cabrera is a better hitter than #6. He has more power, he pulls the ball better, he goes to the opposite field better, and he is a better RBI man than Al was. It’s not a knock on Kaline, because Cabrera is one of the best hitters to ever play the game. He has a career .320 batting average and his slugging marks are among the best of the last 25 ...

My 9 year old boy, who played in the local rec league at 6 and 7 then quit and who has only barely shown a passing interest in baseball, was jumping and yelling all over the house when Cruz homered then immediately turned on the Wii to play a game of baseball and "hit homers like Nelson Cruz."

That Rangers lineup is stacked, but Nelson Cruz has always been the guy who scares the bejeezus out of me.

I know he's battled a lot of injuries, but I'm surprised his numbers aren't better -- only a 115 career OPS+?

I noticed it during Andrus' near drop on the bases-loaded flare -- his inflection doesn't change at all. He just gets mildly louder.

I was at the game with my almost-6 year-old. I think it's safe to say that the game made a big impact on him. He memorized "first game-ending grand slam in baseball history" to tell his classmates tomorrow.

Yeah, despite the pleasure he's leached from baseball, the Tyree clip is truly the Joe Buck we know and love best.

Too bad Tyree didn't try to sign the ball with a magic marker so Buck could experience some genuine emotion. As Robot Monster said, "To be like the hu-man! To laugh! Feel! Want! Why are these things not in the plan?"

"Playoff." "Post-season" doesn't pass logical muster with a 5 year-old. Baseball season isn't over yet.

I find children generally tiresome, but the stories in this thread regarding the same are totally awesome.

Much like Pujols in the series where I'm rooting for Milwaukee, it is difficult not to love Nelson Cruz despite rooting for Detroit.
