You people are idiots. This is an awesome well written story by Mr. Kepnner but since its not about ######### radio guys or race or posted by ####### repoz nobody is interested? Its the best baseball reporting of the year. Oh I forgot Im on huffingtingfurtadopost.
This was my other favorite nugget:
The White Sox nearly won the game the next inning, when Paciorek singled to deep center with one out and one on. The third-base coach, Jim Leyland, tried to hold up the base runner, Dave Stegman. The two collided, and Stegman was out.
“In all my career — and I worked, including the minor leagues, for over 30 years — I had never had a coach assist,” Evans, the plate umpire, said. “If a third-base or first-base coach physically assists a runner in going back to a base, or moving forward to the next one, it is coach’s interference.”
Naturally, the next batter, Vance Law, singled. But with Stegman out on the interference call, the hit did not score a run.
The only coach-assist infraction in the guy's career likely keeps the winning run from scoring in a game that ends up goes 25 innings. I love that.
Great read. Only thing it was missing was more photos.
as someone who watched each of those games in their entirety the whole experience stunk
