Finally, something goes right!

The Yankees released first baseman/outfielder Juan Rivera, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports...

The Yankees added Vernon Wells and Lyle Overbay this week. Wells, Overbay, and Ben Francisco are making the team, Rivera was told, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch and others.

I saw Qualls' last Phillies' performance and if The Pinstripes revive him then I'll concede they have magic powers. More likely he's just a shot himself in the dark like Igarashi was.

Somehow when the Phillies come back from an 8-2 deficit to make it 8-7, and Chad Qualls immediately gives up three more runs, it's a lot more annoying that if it had happened in your standard 4-3 sort of game.

From 102 wins a year ago, to sell mode on the first day of July. That is some kind of incredible turnaround the wrong way.

While I don't doubt they are in sell mode, the two trades they've had aren't evidence of anything of the sort. Thome is a pinch hitter with negative defensive value in the NL. Qualls had been DFAed because of poor performance. They've gotten rid of nobody who they expected to contribute the rest of this year - opening roster spots for players who might contribute. That they actually got something for Thome is just lagniappe.

While I don't doubt they are in sell mode, the two trades they've had aren't evidence of anything of the sort.

I thought that was already scienticially proven in 2005, though it's duration is only about 2-3 months.

one of them earned 13 mill and the other around 2 mil just from their professional salaries, until news pop up with their names and Lenny Dykstra in the same article I'll assume that they're living a pretty darn comfortable life.

There's no point in being in denial of something that's so obvious. Ruben Amaro Jr. isn't in denial; he knows his old team's run of greatness is over now, and has already started the rebuilding process. There are more trades coming.

Epic win for Amaro! In all seriousness, I'm amazed that the Phils aren't on the hook for his salary, let alone that the Yanks might give them cash in the deal.

I do have this awful fear that Qualls will be the PTBNL in a couple of weeks, though, once the Yanks try him out.

Not too sure Qualls should be that excited; while he does stand a chance of the miraculous career revival occurring, on the other hand, the last time the MFYs got free players from the Phils it didn't go all that well for Cory Lidle.
