The Yankees added Vernon Wells and Lyle Overbay this week. Wells, Overbay, and Ben Francisco are making the team, Rivera was told, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch and others.

I don't know that AAA would help Ike. I think it's the Valley Fever and the ankle which are holding him back, and I don't see how facing weaker pitching would help with either of those things. Dude needs a DL stint to get his strength back. I think Ike heading to AAA might help the Mets, though.
I could kind of buy it, given that a strong season could really help the Marlins build their new brand. But the Mets could use some brand resuscitation themselves, and since the Marlins and Mets are currently in a three way tie with the Giants for the second wild card spot, I'd say they're pretty even.
I'm going to assume this is the first time that's ever happened.
The Orioles are in first place by two games. Does that mean they're playing for more than the Yankees, who are 5.5 games back?
