But does he know the lyrics to ” Let’s Go to the Mall” or the “Beaver Song”?
“LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - How many national teams can boast having a suitable replacement for an MVP winner?
Had Joey Votto’s knee prevented him from playing in this month’s World Baseball Classic, Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was ready and willing to wear the maple leaf.
“I told the players association to make sure they let the WBC know that both my parents were born in Canada,” Freeman ...

‹ First < 2 3 4 5 6 7Hard to say, some positive and some negative.
Biggest positive : his arm is still clearly attached to his shoulder!!
From a camera view his pitch seem noticeably faster than anyone else in the game, you could even say that it looked explosive. though the guns yesterday was a mess, the Miles gun shown on the screen seem to be at least 3-4 miles slower than what the local announcer keep reading, if we believe the former he was pitching around 86-88 mph, the later however keep saying that he's pitching around 146 and up to 149 kMph, which is about 91 to 94. which seems more consistent with the reports from the warmup games over the last couple week.
He did also throw at least one nice hook.
Control seem spotty, though it's not like he was really a control / command guy to begin with.
Hopefully we'll get to see him a few more times at least this tournament. so far so good at lest. the fact that he can actually pitch a inning without being sent to the hospital is probably already something of a minor miracle (see Chris Snelling in this game.)
Per Wikipedia I've got
Curacao 9
Netherlands 7
Aruba 2
Netherlands Antilles 2
Canada 1
EDIT: Plus 7 unknowns...(I'm sure SOMEONE knows where they're from, I'm just too lazy to look them up)
Though to guess by name -
Kevin Heijstek (Europe)
Joanthan Isenia (Carribean)
Mark Pawelek (Poland?)
Orlando Yntema (Carribean)
Bas Nooij (Europe)
Dashenko Ricardo (Carribean)
Quintin de Cuba (Carribean)
Ricardo is from the NA.
Also, I submitted the Day 2 Omnichatter, hopefully it'll be up later.
By the way, David Hernandez has replaced Chris Perez on the USA roster. There was some initial controversy because it was thought he was going to be on Team Mexico, but it turns out that he hadn't been able to provide the proper documentation to Mexico, so he wasn't going to play for them and was, well, a WBC free agent.
Have to say, looking at his stats, I did not realize he did that well last year.
Interestingly, that can't be said for the ESPN Deportes website, where, while not front and center, it is certainly there and could be front and center later on when the games themselves are going on.
This seems to be a mix of "Most of the players in these games aren't MLB" and "Sour grapes because MLB decided to bring the WBC in-house". I can guarantee you that once Team USA, DR, PR, etc. start playing that it will be getting more attention simply because of the names involved, or if Barry Larkin (who WORKS FOR ESPN) pulls off an upset.
The fact is is that ESPN, with the exception of the super-duper big events (Super Bowl, Olympics, World Series, etc.), will always prioritize the content they own the rights to before that which they don't. This is especially true with events that are happening during ESPN broadcasts of stuff. Like, if this was a slow Monday with no major NCAA basketball going on, it might be on the front of the English ESPN, but right in the middle of a NCAA-packed saturday, it probably won't until the MLB players arrive in large numbers.
If you go to ESPN's MLB page, there is quite a bit of WBC material. Might have to be using the Desktop version of the site since the Tablet version is usually somewhat abbreviated.
