Watching Pearce hamming it up was actually painful. He's a terrific actor, and deserves better than this.
Anybody here who hasn't seen "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert": you totally should.
Guy Pearce AND Hugo Weaving AND Terence Stamp as Australian drag queens, and they're all outstanding.
Dexter has seemed kinda fun to me lately, but this currently is only the second season I've watched (saw last season's, which was pretty blah), so I haven't a clue how it stacks up to the run.
i thought seasons 3 and 6 were the weakest. season 5 was just a tick above that. then, season 1, then 4 and 2. lithgow was tremendous in season 4, but i hated the way that season ended.

sounds like kind of a rip off of that wesley snipes movie.

[853] Kinda, except the other way around. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was shot and released first. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Priscilla,_Queen_of_the_Desert#Cultural_impact

Very not a rip off of To Wong Foo. I think Priscilla is a bit overrated, but it's still a pretty good movie.
I found Lockout to be no thinking involved amusement. I found Drive to be mildy interesting and mostly boring. I did like THe Crazies with I believe Olyphant being the protagonist.

i'm a huge timothy olyphant fan, but i didn't think that movie was very good. it just wasn't very interesting to me.

i'm not quite sure whether this is a real competition or the greatest piece of performance art in human history, but either way, it's totally and completely awesome.
i have a new favorite television show: total blackout.

okay, to give a quick sell for this show, there are 4 contestants who are plunged into total darkness and made to touch/smell different things. in this last round, one of the items was a man's ass, and one of the contestants puts his nose right into the crack and says "i've smelled this before."
i almost went apoplectic when he said that. i'm gonna say this show is right up with archer in the running for my favorite show on television.
fringe: i'm sure that i'm wrong about this, but is there any chance that peter is september? you know, the observer who pulled him out of the frozen lake back when he was a kid?
And before I forget, Christy Turlington is probably in the top 10 most beautiful women who have ever lived. I honestly don't think I'd be able to speak if I ever met her in person.
I've spoken to Christy Turlington in person. She was buying cheese from me. I gave her samples of four cheeses. She bought three. She was dressed down and was not a blazing beauty or anything like that, just looked like a pretty woman.
Seems to me like Nucky found himself in a real dilly of a pickle. His sole source of revenue is being threatened on multiple fronts, with Gyp Rosetti and Arnold Rothstein coordinating to cut Nucky out entirely. His wife, who it should be remembered screwed Nucky out of a literal fortune in the New Jersey highway deal, is back screwing Nucky's first lieutenant. The Feds still want a piece of him, and the DA basically told Nucky the gig was up. He's so desperate for competent help he's forced to rely on Mickey F'n Doyle, and his most competent associate, Eli, just happened to betray Nucky previously and tried to have him killed.
Nucky's never been in a weaker position before.
Arnold is not trying to cut out Nucky. Arnold sided with Nucky and Arnold tried to have Gyp killed. Gyp has now been chased out of Tabor Heights and the booze is flowing again to NY. The AG is looking for a fall guy but Nucky is enlisting the female prosecutor to his side, still has Harding's baby in the cooler, and now has Means cutting a deal with him. All Nucky has experienced this season is petty annoyances.
Well my friend, I'd say you're half remarkably right, and half terribly, terribly wrong.
i thought last night's "it's always sunny in philadelphia" episode was one of their best ever. definitely up there with 'char-dee mac-dennis' 'the DENNIS system' 'frank reynolds little beauties', 'who got dee pregnant', 'the world series defense', 'who pooped the bed', 'the nightman cometh', 'sweet dee's dating a retarded person', 'mac is a serial killer', and...you know, they've had a lot of really good episodes. i've never really thought of the show as one of my favorites, but there's a lot of hilarious stuff there.
All great episodes, but personally, I'll take "The gang Buys A Boat" over all of them, for the sole reason that "Because of the implication" is, like, the funniest few moments of TV, like, ever.
and carl is also more interesting seeing as he's not gutshot.
Yes indeed. Consciousness is good. Now that he's actually allowed to do things, he's turning into one of the most interesting characters in the series. A lot will depend on how much talent the actor playing him has. It's tough for a kid, no matter how good, to sell grim seriousness. That's the kind of thing that can go horribly wrong onscreen.
TWD is strong this season, but I'm very disappointed in what they're (not) doing with Michonne. The lack of any kind of history at all makes her uncompelling. The lack of any detail of her and Andrea's six months wandering in the wilderness is a serious narrative blunder. That could have been fascinating and evocative. Instead, we get varying degrees of glaring.
The failure to have her explain to Andrea that she saw blood and bullet holes in the vehicles belonging to the dead military unit was plain silly.

The show has too much silliness to be compelling. A certain amount is to be expected, it's a damned zombie show, but the levels of stupid activity are just too high for me.
That show needs two good seasons to make up for the "Farm Scene with Occasional Zombies" still life, and any season where Carl isn't dead isn't a good season.

I haven't watched last night's yet, but this is one of the recent frequent speculations in the nerdosphere, so you're not alone. I'm hoping not, I don't like those sorts of circles with no start, but it's certainly a possibility. I do hope that it's revealed the "month" observers are from a much farther future than the invader ones.

I love rapist Dennis. Watch like the first 2 minutes of "Dennis gets divorced".
