Albert Pujols was of great value to the Cardinals and Josh Hamilton was of great value to the Rangers, and yet both were willing to move on rather than get stuck with the players’ decline phases. The Yankees shouldn’t be any different in this regard.

It also ignores the fact that free agent classes are getting weaker and weaker and if you let someone like Cano go what will you spend his money on?
By the way, the Cards reportedly offered Pujols 10/$200. They were happy to sign on to his decline phase, they just weren't willing to go as high as the Angels.
Brian Kenny just said Cano is worth 8/252 according to projected WAR market value. Yikes.
