Derek Jeter had 550 minor league hits, which combined with his 200 postseason hits puts him over 4000.
I missed the first page of comments, so I just want to know one thing: Does this help his HOF chances?
2. At age 20 he hit .385 - this is 2 points short of his best batting average. In other words, he was as good then as he was ever would become. In MLB, he would have either made the team out of spring training or forced his way up in the middle of the year. He was too good of a talent right then to have been kept down.
the only thing that I think would be different about ichiro's career if it had started in the states is that a team would have put him in centerfield. and rightly so
Wouldn't slap singles transfer better to America on a 1:1 basis than home runs or 1.80 ERAs?
