    Yanks, Manchester City awarded MLS expansion team

    Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber announced today that a partnership of global sports powers, Manchester City Football Club and the New York Yankees, has acquired the League’s 20th expansion club. The new team will be named New York City Football Club (NYCFC) and expects to begin play in 2015.

    Wait, I thought Manchester United was the Yankees’ fellow member of the Legion of Doom, not Manchester City!

    Chass is an idiot, but he's more or less right about this single point. The NYT is utterly humorless.

    I don't find myself rolling on the floor laughing very often when reading Chass.

    And if the Times had injected humor into the story, Chass would have excoriated them based on their lack of journalistic integrity, and claimed they should stick to reporting the facts. At this point it's pretty clear he ain't going to stop grinding that axe.
