He was a bad defender at 3rd. He played mostly shortstop in the minors, but the Rockies must have felt he couldn't handle second and short since they rarely played him at 2nd and kept Reid Brignac and Jonathan Herrera over him.
Do we know that players self-identify as 'to be named later'? Sure, there have been a few (Roberto Hernandez, Boof Bonser among them), but we've no reason to think that these people exists in the same numbers in MLB as they do in the general population.
Names exist along a continuum anyway...
Brignac doesn't look like he's any better hitter than Herrera, and has been awful defensively. I don't see any reason to keep Brignac around.
the Brewers have indicated that they are going to start YuniB at 1B once Aramis Ramirez returns.
Yeah, that's been surprising as I thought Brignac came in with a good defensive rep.
