The Kids
  by Matt Clement of Alexandria

The Red Sox have been unexpectedly watchable of late, and it’s greatly thanks to three people.  One of them is Adrian Gonzalez, a .gif of whom is linked in the comments.  The other two are the kids on hot streaks, Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava.

You might say that it’s not a good idea to ...

Staying Logged In Issue
  by Jim Furtado

This is a new thread dedicated to the “staying logged in” issue that has reappeared after I updated our backend to Expression Engine 2.4. The issue has been discussed in a few places but it would be more useful for me to consolidate the conversation to one place. Additionally, it provides a more ...

microBBTFs: I Have Keys and I am not Afraid to Give Them Out
  by Jim Furtado

Squishing Bugs
  by Jim Furtado

Yesterday morning I updated our underlying CMS (Content Management System) Expression Engine. I needed to apply the maintenance release to better take advantage of the new caching system I’m using with the updated site. It wasn’t a major release and during my testing on my development system I ...

Nine (Year) Men Out:  Free El Duque!
  by Daniel Greenia
Orlando Hernandez (“El Duque”), out of MLB for five years now, is up for election to the Hall of Fame in the next BBWAA election in 2013. Or rather, he should be. But the HOF does not consider his playing time sufficiently long to be eligible, despite a career spanning from 1987 to 2010. ...MORE

2012 ZiPS Projections, Final Edition
  by Dan Szymborski
This is the final ZiPS release looking ahead at the 2012 season. These were finalized before the A's-Mariners games, so there's not "cheating" by including the 2 days of statistics into the model. The .zip file contains a full spreadsheet for Excel 2010 and CSV files for the batters and ...MORE

2012 ZiPS/RBI Baseball
  by Dan Szymborski

Remember RBI Baseball for Nintendo?  For those that are interested, I’ve made a modified version of the original RBI Baseball ROM with 2012 ZiPS.

For use of the ROM, seek ye an NES emulator, which can be found in a number of open-source flavors.  I use FCEUX.

Any other old NES ROMs, I can’t legally ...

(General?) Manager’s Decision: Roster Controversy!
  by Matt Clement of Alexandria

The Soxblog firestorm of the weekend arose from a couple reports that Bobby V and Ben Cherington disagree about roster composition.  I have some thoughts on the final spots on the Sox roster, which I’ll get to.  I’m also interested in the underlying question of the authority of the manager, GM, ...
