Pretty good? Doesn't he have something like 30 HR's in 18 at bats?
I'm glad he's having a nice winter, but his repertoire is that of a reliever. Plus, "5th starter Jesus" can't hold a candle to "Bullpen Jesus".
I've seen that reference in several places, and it's probably more appropriate to say "Jack Cust who isn't as slow as a slug". Desme's more of a smart baserunner than a speed burner (although he's good enough to handle CF now and again without embarrassing himself); the SB total was a bit of an aberration. The K rates improved when he went from Kane County to Stockton - but then again, so did the hitting environment. Desme's going to be 24 next season, and I think he's going to have to deal with his contact issues pretty quickly if he's going to be anything other than the next Cust.
