The A's also recently promoted Andrew Carignan, the former UNC closer, from Stockton to Midland. Carignan fanned 17 and allowed only 1 run and 5 hits in 10 innings in the Cal League. He's had a few command problems in AA but is 1-0 with 2 saves in 5 games.

Botts homered in his first PA with the Okies tonight - that's a stacked OF (Mayberry-Ellison-Cruz-Mench-Botts).

So Mench gets dealt to Toronto (for cash) a day later...

The Rangers also recently promoted OF John Mayberry Jr. from Frisco to Oklahoma. Mayberry, drafted in the first round in 2005, has hit .370/.404/.722 in 14 games for the RedHawks since his promotion.

Anyone know why Todd Linden was released by Oakland - was that of his volition?

Part of Linden contract -- either officially or unofficially -- was that if he wasn't with Oakland by June 1st, they had to release him. They just gave it a 10 day advance.

Thanks! I imagined something like that was likely the case, given that he was performing well (he was pretty good in ST as well, IIRC).
