Managers on the hot seat.
Seattle Star, August 13, 1915:
Wowsers. That would have been crazy. Obviously this didn’t happen, with the Federal League months away ...Read More...
Amazing play by Rizzo of course, but I was surprised it was ruled a legal catch. My understanding has always been than a player can jump into the stands and catch the ball in the air, but he can’t plant his foot on the wall and then jump into the stands to make a catch. And I’m surprised he was allowed to climb on the tarp. At the same time, the rules (shockingly), aren’t entirely clear (see text after the jump).
Includes a Jason Bere reference.
Antonio Senzatela looks like someone to keep an eye on.
Gerrit Cole sounds like a good teammate.

Pat Gillick is an extremely astute baseball decision maker. If this report is true, it’s clear that the Red Sox question the team’s decision-making at the top of baseball ops. As they should. Hopefully, they are just working to improve Cherington’s advisory team because I believe his *process* is, overall, the right process.
Who would have guessed that all of the best pitching staffs came from the NL? Have fun beating up on opposing pitchers while the real teams face line-ups with 9 guys who can hit.
Brian Kenny is ready to televise the sabermetric revolution ... again | Big League Stew - Yahoo Sports
Brian Kenny and Rob Neyer are two of my favorite baseball analysts. These experiments need a lot of tweaking, however. The game is what’s important. Focus on the game and inject smart analysis. Making the analysis the focal point of the broadcast is just too much.
All hail the mighty Cardinals. Really.
Jonathan Mayo gives a list of the rabbits.
Poor results from the #6 organization.
Reyes, a shell of his former self, longs to play for a contender and wants to finish his career in New York.
This is some sad stuff!!!

What a record! I bet you will all forever remember where you were when you heard the news.
There is an easy fix for Joe Kelly. Pitch better as a starter. If not, prepare yourself for the bullpen.

Rob Neyer *and* Kevin Millar working together? That was awkwarrrdddddd.
Some teams have been blessed to see one legendary arm after another take the hill for their squad. Others have been forced to live with mediocrity while they await their turn in line. As such, we are here to examine the greatest starting pitchers in the history of each franchise. Whether it was championship glory or individual accomplishments, something sets each of these men apart from the pack and makes them the face of pitching greatness for their respective teams.

This does not sound like something I want to get involved in. I will stick to the lines to try and hold onto as much of my remaining privacy as I can.
